Religious Wedding Vow # 1

 

I, Groom/Bride take thee, Groom/Bride to be my wedded wife/husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my faith

 

Religious Wedding Vow # 2

 

In the name of God, and in the presence of our families and friends, I, Groom/Bride, choose you, Groom/Bride, to be my beloved wife/husband. I promise to love you and hold you close, and to be a comfort and a safe haven for you in your life. I promise to nourish you with my gentleness and caring and to uphold you with my strength. I will listen to you with an open mind and heart and will weigh the effects of the words I speak and the things I do. Groom/Bride, I will forever thank God for your presence in my life and you will always be surrounded by my love.

 

Religious Wedding Vow # 3

 

Male I, Groom, take you, Bride, to be my wedded wife. With deepest joy I receive you into my life that together we may be one. As is Christ to His body, the church, so I will be to you a loving and faithful husband. Always will I perform my headship over you even as Christ does over me, knowing that His Lordship is one of the holiest desires for my life. I promise you my deepest love, my fullest devotion, my tender care. I promise I will live first unto God rather than others or even you. I promise that I will lead our lives into a life of faith and hope in Christ Jesus. Ever honoring God's guidance by His spirit through the Word, And so throughout life, no matter what may lie ahead of us, I pledge to you my life as a loving and faithful husband. Female I, Bride, take you, Groom, to be my wedded husband. With deepest joy I come into my new life with you. As you have pledged to me your life and love, so I too happily give you my life, and in confidence submit myself to your headship as to the Lord. As is the church in her relationship to Christ, so I will be to you. Groom, I will live first unto our God and then unto you, loving you, obeying you, caring for you and ever seeking to please you. God has prepared me for you and so I will ever strengthen, help, comfort, and encourage you. Therefore, throughout life, no matter what may be ahead of us, I pledge to you my life as an obedient and faithful wife.

 

Religious Wedding Vow # 4

 

Groom: I love you, Bride, and I know that God has ordained this love. Because of this I desire to be your husband. Together we will be vessels for His service in accordance with His plan, so that in all areas of our life Christ will have the pre-eminence. Through the pressures of the present and the uncertainties of the future, I promise to be faithful to you. I promise to love, guide, and protect you as Christ does His Church, and as long as we both are alive. According to Ephesians 5 and with His enabling power, I promise to endeavor to show to you the same kind of love as Christ showed the Church when He died for her, and to love you as a part of myself because in His sight we shall be one.

Bride: I love you, Groom and I know that you love me. Because of this I desire to be your wife. For _ years I have prayed that God would lead me to His choice and I am confident that His will is being fulfilled tonight. Through the pressures of the present and the uncertainties of the future I promise to be faithful to you. I will love, serve, and obey you as long as we both are alive. Christ told us that the wife must submit herself unto her own husband as unto the Lord. For as Christ is Head of His Church so is the husband head of his wife. Groom/Bride, I submit myself to you.

 

Religious Wedding Vow # 5

 

I (Groom/Bride), call upon these persons here present to witness that I (Groom/Bride), do take you (Groom/Bride), to be my lawful wedded (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God’s holy law; and to this I pledge myself.

Groom -- My Bride, I have prayed for you as my wife and as God has truly answered my prayers, I praise and thank Him for His faithfulness for I have delighted in knowing you and loving you. I look forward to being your Christian husband for as long as we both shall live. I will love you as Christ loved the church and died for her. I will love you during the good times and the difficult times for we know the Lord is our Savior and our guide. You shall always be my bride and I give myself to you this day. I love you, Bride.

And Bride, will you now speak your vow to Groom?

Bride -- Dear Groom, I thank God for a man such as you, strong in the faith of the Lord, loving the Word, I know that it has been the will of God to bring us together to this day and I praise God for His goodness to me in bringing you to my side. I will love you and will submit to you as to the Lord. I give myself to you this day, I love you, Groom.
