Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand one, representing you bride and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, groom, and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.

In this very special moment, we pause, to give thanks for all the rich experiences of life that have brought _______ & _______ to this high point in their lives.  We are grateful for the values, which they have found through their own strivings. We are grateful that within them is the dream of great love and the resources to use that love in creating a home that shall endure.

We are especially grateful for the values, which have flowed into them from those who have loved them and nurtured them and pointed them along life’s way. The heritage each brings to this commitment will continue to be an important element in their lives, but now will be shared between them.  In commemoration of the merging of these two rich heritages and in memory of those, living and departed, who were part of these heritages, I now invite _______ & _______’s parents to come forth and represent each of the families of this couple.

(You are all facing the containers of sand)

Before you are four separate containers of sand representing your lives to this moment; individual and unique. When you combine your sand together , your lives will also join together as one family.

_________, please pick up the container of sand that represents your life’s path.

__________, please pick up the container that represents your life’s path.

________ & ________ ‘s parents, please pick up the container that represents the life path of your family.

You may now blend the sand together symbolizing the uniting of these two families into one.

(as you all pouring the sand)

Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your commitment and your families be.

containers of sand one, representing you BRIDE and all that you were,
all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, GROOM,
and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be.
As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual
containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one.
Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again
into the individual containers, so will your marriage be."

"BRIDE and GROOM, today you join your separate lives together.
The two separate bottles of sand symbolize your separate lives,
separate families and separate sets of friends. They represent all that you are
and all that you'll ever be as an individual. They also represent your
lives before today. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third
container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be
joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated
and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be."

Sample Sand Ceremony - 3
"BRIDE and GROOM, you have just sealed your relationship by the
giving and receiving of rings and this covenant is a relationshi
pledge between two people who agree that they will commit themselves to one
another throughout their lives. The most beautiful example
of this partnership is the marriage relationship. You have committed here
today to share the rest of your lives with each other. Today, this relationship is
symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand one,
representing you, BRIDE and all that you were, all that you are, and all that
you will ever be, and the other representing you, GROOM, and all that you were
and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As these two containers
of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand
will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains
of sand can never be separated and poured again into the
individual containers, so will your marriage be."

“Bride and Groom, will you now step up to the altar and hold close to your heart the container of sand representing the essence of all that you are and all that you bring to this union. As you do so, embody the grains with all your hopes and dreams for the future. Bring to mind the strength of your promises, the honesty and integrity with which you make them, and all the particles of personality that make you unique and wonderful in one another’s eyes.”

Bride and Groom come to behind the altar
and each take their own container of sand in hand

“Within a marriage each person is both their own and each others. Two individuals choosing to create a new life with endless possibilities and new dreams that are theirs together. Will you now pour the sand that is to represent the foundation of your love which is to support and nurture, your marriage and your family?”

Bride and Groom intermingle half of their sand

“Bride, will you join us please?”

The couple’s daughter/son joins them behind the altar

“This container, is here to represent you Bride, and your importance. Like colors of the rainbow we’re all different and special, valuable, and precious. Therefore it is only fitting that you be shown as an important part of this marriage after all marriage is really about family. So will you please pick up your sand and add it to your mom and dad's.

Bride picks up her container of sand and pours

Bride and Groom, will you now finish pouring your sand?

Bride and Groom pour the rest of their sand into the container

“And will you now seal the vessel as a reminder that nothing is more important nor more sacred than the bond that you share as husband wife and family. Bride, do you see where you all are. You are in the center of your mom and dad‘s hearts, now and forever.”

And everyone comes back to the front of the altar
(Bride was very young so the parts that address her are worded for her to understand. With older children age appropriate wording is usually used)
